    Join MSON for a Hike at Sachuest Point - Tuesday, April 22nd!


    With scenic trails, viewing platforms, and informational signs, it’s the perfect place to take in stunning ocean views and spot local wildlife. Keep an eye out for deer, mink, and a variety of birds as we explore the refuge. Spring also brings the migration of thousands of tree swallows and monarch butterflies, along with birds of prey like the northern harrier and red-tailed hawk. Breathe in the fresh sea air and join us for a peaceful walk through this beautiful seaside refuge!

    Date: Tuesday, April 22nd  

    Time: 10:30 AM

    Where: Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge

    (Meet by the Trail Map in front of the building.)


    This hike is free to attend and is suitable for hikers of all experience levels.


    Guests and children are welcome! Stroller-friendly trails.

    Step into the jazzy world of the Roaring Twenties with this new production of the World Ballet Company. See the glitz, glamor, and tragic romance of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s timeless novel LIVE on stage, featuring a multinational cast of 40 professional ballet dancers, an all-star creative team, lustrous hand-crafted costumes, and lavish, groundbreaking sets. The original score evokes the energy and atmosphere of the 1920s.

    Join MSON for an elegant afternoon at the Chinese Tea House as we celebrate Military Spouse Appreciation Month on Thursday, May 15th! 

    Registration Closes May 7th

    Our traditional high tea includes a selection of delicately filled sandwiches, savory canapés, macaroons, petit fours, fresh scones with jam & cream, a wide choice of specialist teas, and a choice of a main course.

    Enjoy a refined tea experience with delicious treats, wonderful company, and a chance to honor the incredible spouses in our community. This is our signature tea event of the year, so don’t miss it!

    Date & Time: Thursday, May 15 @ 12:00 - 3:00 PM

    Location: Chinese Tea House, Newport

    Attire: Smart Casual. Options include dress pants, skirts, dresses, blazers, dress shirts, or other polished attire. Fancy hats and fascinators are welcome but not required.

    Optional Tea Cup Exchange: If you'd like, bring a beautiful wrapped tea cup and saucer in a gift bag to exchange!

    Cost: This $90 experience is paid for by the generous support of the Daughters of the American Revolution. To secure your spot, we require a $20 deposit, which can be refunded after the event (minus a processing fee) or donated to the MSON scholarship & grant funds—your choice!


    If you do not attend, your deposit will be donated to the MSON scholarship & grant funds.

    If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible as there will likely be a waitlist, if there is no waitlist, no refunds on the deposit.

    How does it work?

    This is a great way to try new recipes, share meals, and simplify your meal prep. Each person will prepare one meal for the total number of people signed up (no more than 10). At our meet-up, we’ll swap meals, so you’ll leave with multiple freezer-ready dishes to cook whenever you need!

    We'll finalize the participant list, vote on recipes, and then get cooking! Register early to ensure your spot and help us finalize the list.

    Where: Melissa Purnell’s house in Middletown (address will be sent to those who sign up)
    Cost: Your recipe (most meals cost $13-$18 each)

    A New York Writer's Take on How His City Has Changed

    We’re taking the Amtrak from Kingston to NYC for a full day of exploration!

    Date: Monday, June 2nd

    Train Departure: 7:11 AM sharp from Kingston Train Station (free parking available). Arriving at 10:22 AM at Union Station, NYC.

    Return: 7:50 PM (Last) train back to Kingston, arriving at 11:08 PM

    Price: $60 (Round trip ticket) (MSON covering $5)

    There are no refunds unless we're able to fill your spot from the waitlist. Any eligible refund will have a $2 processing fee.

    Once the group is full, we’ll create a chat to plan an itinerary together. This trip is limited to MSON members only with 8 tickets available. After registration a carpool sign-up sheet will be sent out.
