Community Grants

Military Spouses of Newport (MSON) is now accepting applications for its 2026 Community Grants program.  MSON strives to support our local community each year by donating funds it raises to local non-profits.  MSON awards community grants to non-profit organizations directly benefiting military families and is pleased to continue this tradition this year.

Organizations should apply to fund their most critical needs. MSON support can be requested for continuing existing projects, undertaking an organizational expansion or for creating new programs.

Community grants will be disbursed in the spring. Applications must be received by 1 April 2026 to be considered. Organizations may apply more than once and will be considered regardless of acceptance or denial of funding from past applications.

Important Points to Note: 

• The funds must be used to directly benefit military families. 

• Funds need to meet an organization’s most critical needs. This can include continuing existing support, expanding a program or starting a new program.

• Funds will not typically be granted for fund-raising campaigns or re-granting of funds in an organization’s own name. 

• Requests must be for an organization and not a person(s). 

All applications must also:  

• Be clear and concise

• Detail the amount of military involvement

• Provide supportive financial documentation

Military Spouses of Newport (MSON) is a non-profit 501(c)(7) organization in Newport, Rhode Island that represents and supports spouses of active duty and retired service members of all branches of service and ranks. MSON is not a part of/does not represent the views of Newport Naval Station, the United States Navy, the Department of Defense or any of its components and has non-governmental status.
